Nymphaea caerulea, or blue lotus, or Egyptian lotus, blue water lily is a water lily of the genus Nyphaea. This flower has a long history and was revered and used in ancient Egyptian civilization. It contains the psychoactive substance aporphine. It was believed that the flower was a gift from the gods to bring healing, relaxation and an increase in consciousness.

The effects of the Blue Lotus are experienced as both narcotic and euphoric, with mild hallucinations occurring at higher doses. It is also used as a sexual stimulant and potency enhancer, especially for problems with a psychological cause it proves very effective.
